postcards from the edge

Friday after work, a group of us walked west to the CRG Gallery hosting the benefit for Visual AIDS that we participated in. About 1400 people created a postcard size original piece of art for the event and opening night was quite a success. There were so many pieces to look at and love and I tried to photograph my ABSOLUTE favorites and the ones that really stood out to me. Sorry for the crooked shoots but the space was packed and hot and full of drag queens (awesome). What I love about this show is that you have no idea who made the art until it is purchased and flipped over. totally anonymous.

Was up ALL night last night...

...watching Hoarders—not because I wanted to be up either (I just could NOT sleep!).

It's kind of funny because before Hoarders I watched Objectified, a captivating documentary examining design. Both obsess over objects, but in two completely different ways. Interesting night and certainly feeling the no sleep now.

 

On a design and an uncluttered note, the house from Ferris Bueller's Day Off is for sale... yes, it's true, Cameron Frye's magnificent house is on the market! Can't be a hoarder and live there—your mess would be on display for all the squirrels to see!

I'll take it!

 "Postcards From the Edge is a Visual AIDS benefit show and sale of original, postcard-sized works on paper by established and emerging artists. All works are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. The works are signed on the back and exhibited so the artists' signatures cannot be seen. While buyers receive a list of all participating artists, they don't know who created which piece until purchased. All proceeds support the programs of Visual AIDS. 
Visual AIDS utilizes art to fight AIDS by provoking dialogue, supporting HIV+ artists, and preserving the legacy -- because AIDS IS NOT OVER!"

Paul Reubens came out after the show in the freezing cold to talk to the crowd—what a character, he is awesome!

2010 is over and...

...Ashley turned 30 and I successfully surprised him!

...we moved into our very own apartment—no roommates!—and I have a place to make a mess.
